Description
Bat Extraction Net. Polyester fabric, approximately 18 x 21 inches (new, cut from larger piece.) Mesh opening is approximately 1/8". Larger sise opening and flexibility compared to window screen prevents bat return.Used to prevent bats from re-entering house attic, prior to sealing entry point(s).
Recommended instructions (based on research and my own successful experience):
Attach netting just above entry point and sides, allowing it to drape down and positioning so a 'tunnel', about the width of your wrist, extends from entry point to open bottom of net. (A "u" shaped piece of a 1 quart plastic bottle with ends removed worked for me.) Attach edges to roof and/or siding with staples and/or duct tape. Do this during the day when bats are sleeping.
At sunset, bats will exit and travel out through the open end at bottom of net. When bats return, they will try to re-enter at entry point at top of net, but will be blocked by net. The bats aren't intelligent enough / able to fly/crawl up open end of net to gain re-entry, and will find another plaste to roost [hopefully the neighbor you don't like :) ]
After 5 days (add an extra day for each night of rain), remove the netting and seal entry point. Unlike other rodents, bats will not eat thru caulking, metal flashing or siding, they just enter through an existing gap or hole. Also, make sure that all other possible entry points are sealed around your home. Bats can enter thru an opening approximately the size of a quarter.
Local pest control quoted me $ 1000.00 plus to do this.
